Christmas Toys

December 30th, 2009 Nancy King No comments

Christmas and post-Christmas is still about toys, regardless of age or generation. Just like a kid, I seemingly can’t be separated from my favorite Christmas toy—- Kindle my kindle! I’m on my third book since Saturday night.

L is nearly as wrapped up in his toy— iPod Touchhis iPod Touch. He is checking stocks and option chains, listening to Bloomberg podcasts, and reading about all the other things he can do with it.

Family Scene of Living Life in the Ordinary Way

December 28th, 2009 Nancy King No comments

L is in his chair in the living room watching Monday Night football on mute while listening to a Bloomberg podcast on his new iPod Touch and petting Leo. I am in my chair in the living room watching Monday Night Football and reading from my new Kindle. By the way, who’s playing football?

I love my Kindle. I can’t believe how my dyslexic brain loves it. The larger print and the fewer words per line make a huge difference—-so much easier and faster to read, and the automatic dictionary. What a relief after all these years of trying to deal with alphabetizing and finding a word in the dictionary!

There have been other things today. This morning I sold 3 stocks at about 18 percent profit. I decided I didn’t want to go into the new year with them. Now, it’s time to go shopping again.

This afternoon I had my close investing friends over for our regular weekly IBD stock discussion and a post Christmas lunch. It was fun to entertain. It has definitely been a while.

Tomorrow it is back to work with my two educational therapy clients, etc.

The Day After The Day After Christmas

December 27th, 2009 Nancy King No comments

Picking up the house this morning (kitchen particularly) with many breaks to enjoy each Christmas gift.

Daughter and Ski Boy outdid themselves in their task of keeping us up-to-date with technology!!! I love it! I can remember years ago when Daughter gave me my  first mouse for my first computer, an IBM XT. The mouse had a cute little cover with a 3-d mouse face on it. He was/still is wearing cute square wire glasses. The IBM XT has long since gone but the mouse cover is still treasured.

And there he is---the gray one. Definitely not the pink one. Still around.

Christmas Tree

UPS delivered the last gift at 7:30 this evening. Everything is wrapped. The stockings are hung by the chimney with care.  And I’m ready (?) for tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Investment Writing, Again

December 21st, 2009 Nancy King No comments

Suddenly, I’m back doing investment writing. Other than for my class lectures, it’s been a long time. I haven’t written anything since the late summer of 2008 when I finished combining, editing, and rewriting text books 1 and 2 of the Slingerland Multi-Sensory Approach to Language Arts . . . (for teaching dyslexic students). Because I worked so diligently to maintain the Slingerland voice, the 2-year project wiped out my investment writing voice. The result was worth it, but it’s nice to be back.

The house is decorated; the presents are purchased; the wrapping has started and life is good.

Yes, Leo demonstrates the peace in the household.
